![]() We did not like the GLE as it was truck based, jazzy and uncomfortable seats and the thrid row as cramped. We were shopping for an SUV for last 3 months. I was leaning towards the BMW X5 and my sife was leaning for the Lexus. I still love the two row version, the RX is still a great vehicle, but the RXL turned out to be completely pointless. I was so excited waiting for the RXL, but it's a complete whiff with regard to the 3rd row, which is what we were holding out for. Not quite a Lexus, but darn, darn close and a bit cheaper too. We ended up buying the highest optioned Toyota Highlander (AWD hybrid limited platinum) instead. Literally physically impossible to use and completely worthless. Not just cramped, not just tight, both of which I expected. If you need to get any child older than about 5 or a dog (which is exactly what they show in the new RXL commercial), the 3rd row is physically impossible to use. The fact that the car is only 4 inches longer than the 2 row version should have been my first clue. It touches! With the second row seats in the farthest forward position, I (or my teenage kids) STILL could not lock the second row seat in place (in it's farthest forward position) because the knees of the 3rd row passenger were in the way. With the 2nd row seats in the back position, the back of the 2nd row seat touches the bench of the 3rd row with precisely zero leg space. I expect midsize SUV 3rd rows to be child-sized, but … this was completely non-functional and worse than any I've ever seen. I literally cannot understand what Lexus was thinking with the 3rd row design. I was so excited when the RXL came out and I went to the dealership with checkbook in hand, ready to buy. So I'm a current Lexus owner, love the brand and have been waiting months for the RX-L to come out and replace our family vehicle with a 3 row SUV. The Lexus RX 350L offers a number of feature packages and stand-alone options. Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert (warns you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while reversing).Lane keeping system (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane).Lane departure mitigation (warns you of a lane departure when a turn signal isn't used and can automatically steer to maintain lane position).Adaptive cruise control (adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front).Forward collision mitigation (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios).Standard safety features and driver aids include: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.Auto-dimming exterior and rearview mirrors.Still, the chintzy interior is a constant reminder that the Atlas is a mainstream three-row SUV and not a luxury one. Easy-to-use infotainment and climate control systems, as well as a handsome-if somewhat boring-exterior design, are added draws. For one, there's plenty of space within the cabin of this three-row model. Though the Atlas lacks the verve and driving engagement of segment leaders such as the Mazda CX-9 or Honda Pilot, the Volkswagen still packs its perks. Nevertheless, those who opt for the 2023 Atlas won't be disappointed. Unless you love the growl of the Atlas's V-6 or want your own three-row VW SUV ASAP, you're likely better off waiting for next year's model. Instead, the 2024 Atlas welcomes a turbocharged four-cylinder engine under its hood that pushes out 269 horsepower-34 more horses than the 2023 model's standard 2.0-liter four. The Volkswagen Atlas retires its available narrow-angle 276-hp V-6 following the 2023 model year.
